Ensure your iPhone or iPad is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV, AirPlay-compatible smart TV, or Mac.
Open the video or app you want to stream.
Tap the AirPlay button. Note: In some apps, you may need to tap another button first, like the Share button in the Photos app, before selecting AirPlay.
Choose your TV or Mac from the list.
To stop streaming:
Tap the AirPlay button in the app and select your iPhone or iPad from the list.
Depending on your AirPlay & Handoff settings, your iPhone or iPad can suggest or connect to frequently used devices automatically.
To adjust these settings:
Go to Settings > General > AirPlay & Handoff.
Choose from the following options:
Never: Requires manual selection of an AirPlay device.
Ask: Offers suggestions via AirPlay notifications.
Automatic: Automatically connects to suggested devices.
Note: Ensure your iPhone or iPad and the AirPlay-enabled device are on the same Wi-Fi network. For Apple TV or HomePod, they must also be logged into the same iCloud account.
Screen mirroring replicates your device's screen on a larger display.
Steps to mirror your screen:
Connect your iPhone or iPad to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV, AirPlay-compatible smart TV, or Mac.
Open the Control Center:
On iPhone X or later: Swipe down from the upper-right corner.
On iPhone 8 or earlier: Swipe up from the bottom edge.
Tap the Screen Mirroring button.
Select your TV or Mac from the list.
If prompted, enter the AirPlay passcode shown on your TV or Mac.
To stop screen mirroring:
Open the Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring, and select Stop Mirroring.
Some video apps may not support AirPlay. Check the App Store on your Apple TV for app compatibility.
